Recreational Use Permits
The Makah Tribe requires that all non-resident motor vehicles entering the Makah Indian Tribe for recreational purposes purchase a Recreational Use Permit. This permit may be purchased at the Makah Tribal Council, Makah marina, Big Salmon Fishing Resort, Washburn's General Store, Makah Museum and the Makah Mini Mart. The cost is $10.00 and they are valid for the calendar year in which they are purchased. Visitors that have official business with the tribe or those who purchase a Makah Fishing Permit will be issued a free recreational use permit. The purpose of the Recreational Use Permit will be to maintain proper use of the Makah Indian Tribes most popular tourist areas such as the Cape Trail, Hobuck Beach and the Shi Shi Trail.
